When booking a venue, it is important to allow a minimum of 2 hours before the party to set up and ensure everything is ready for your guests arrival. This needs to be agreed at the time of your booking, to ensure there is enough time in between parties. Village halls often have bookings back to back and may not be able to be flexible unless you book well in advance.
When ordering props, backdrops or light up numbers it is essential for us to be able to access the venue with ease. For this reason I prefer to not supply town centre locations. Parking and lugging props through the town is not ideal and eats into your set up time. If your booking is on the fifth floor of a venue with no lift, you will be charged more than one I can get into with ease, and there's no risk of me passing out on the third set of stairs!
There are certain venues we set up at that make us excited! Clean white walls makes the perfect backdrop and we know the pictures will look AMAZING! If you ask me for a pastel theme, soft colourings and subtle, this will not look as good if the venue walls are lime green!
Garden parties! This is a budget friendly alternative to a venue however, these are extremely reliant upon the weather. Bouncy castles will get cancelled if the wind speed is too strong. For this reason we do not hire out our wooden props for outdoor use. Although weighted down, the wind causes them to bend and bow resulting in damage to the base. If it starts to rain our props will get damaged.
I recommend a balloon hoop for outdoor parties!
You have planned the perfect party, unloaded the car and everyone is now asking you questions, 'where do you want this to go'. Yet you have a millions things to do before everyone arrives... often I see mummies get very stressed!
If you have hired a bouncy castle or a DJ they need to be located to electrics and not blocking exits. Make sure you have visited the venue ahead of time taking note of where you can safely place everything you've hired. Make a plan as to where you would like everything to go.
The main part of a balloon display is to be a focal point, a 'Wow' when guests enter the room and an amazing backdrop for pictures that will be treasured for many years to come. Often bouncy castles or soft play arrives and its much bigger than anticipated, meaning the backdrop has to be moved. It's important to ensure you know the scale and sizes of hired equipment ahead of time. It will be a shame to pay for a £300 backdrop if its hidden round the back and no one can see it!
Utilise your help: Make sure everyone has a job ahead of time and knows where items will be placed. Whether that's setting up the food table, laying out the plates, cups etc. Sketch it if need be! This will eliminate the questions and will help you enjoy the lead up to the party rather than panic mode when the guests are arriving in ten minutes and the tables aren't set!
Finally, make sure you have paracetamol for your headache for when you get home and wine in the fridge!

This venue is located by Broadwater Green in Worthing. It has ample parking and doors opening on to the carpark so unloading the car is easy! The main hall is perfect for decor as it is plain so suits any theme, and it is big enough to accommodate bouncy castles!
The Seaview East Preston
When I visited this venue it stole my heart. Their outside area is stunning, perfect for summer parties in the evening and the owners are lovely people who go above and beyond to make your event so special. It's well worth a visit for a more grown up party!
